Caught Live... Festival Number 6
I am not a number, I am a rather superb new music festival...

The headliners might have read Spiritualized, Primal Scream and New Order, but a more truthful line-up would have had the word 'Portmeirion' displayed proudly at the top of the bill as this fledgling festival's biggest attraction.
Even amongst the big name musical acts, the Italian-themed North Wales village (recognisable to most as the backdrop for The Prisoner) stood out as the real star here. Both the organisers and festival-goers really took this to their hearts, with countless little nods to the cult 60s TV show.
This unique setting meant that everything came with a faint air of surreality. This is not your archetypal festival in a big open field covered with branding; everywhere you turned jaws were dropping and minds were were  blown, as people tried to take in everything they were seeing (check out the image gallery below for some examples).
Human chess re-enactments in the Central Piazza, a flea circuse with a twirly-moustached ringleader, night time torch-lit processions, a full Welsh Male Voice Choir belting out Blue Monday, nightmarish contraptions belching out flames, a boat made of stone built into a wall - all of it somehow made a strange sort of sense. And if that all got a bit too much, you could always have a wander through the woodland trail, stopping at the viewpoint to take in the spectacular scenery.
Oh, and there was music as well.
Mercury Music Prize nominee and woman-of-the-moment Jessie Ware was amongst a Friday line-up that included Richard Hawley and a headline set from Spiritualized that would have baffled as many people as it enthralled.
Primal Scream brought Saturday to a close with a blistering headline set, while New Order rolled back the years on Sunday to show the young 'uns how it's done and keeping all but the most weekend-weary revellers on their feet, topping off a great line-up that also saw Everything Everything, Toy, Field Music, and local hero Gruff Rhys.
Once the guitars were put in their cases, the DJs took to the decks and kept the party going until the early hours. As far as music went, there was something for everyone.
But despite all the great music, Festival Number 6's unique setting elevated it above a standard music festival into something that could not be imitated, despite how much envious onlooking promoters might wish. As such, when word gets out, it could turn out to be one of 2013's truly don't-miss festivals.
See you there.
