Mum faces court action after taking son out of school so he could attend her Caribbean wedding.

A mum will face court after taking her son out of school for 11 days so he could give her away at her dream Caribbean wedding.

Frances White, 31, is due in the dock next week after refusing to pay a fine for her son Harrison’s absence.

She said she asked for time off for her 13-year-old son more than a year ago so he could attend her wedding to Nick Harden in St Lucia, but her request was refused.

But she took him anyway and was then hit with a £50 fine by the council, which she has refused to pay.

Ms White said: “It is ridiculous. This was a one-off in exceptional circumstances – it was our wedding day.

“It was the only time everyone could get there.”

She has now been summoned to court with the fine standing at £100.

A spokesman for Marple Hall School, near Stockport, said: “Guidance is clear that permission for holidays can be given only rarely."
