Toyota announced another recall of millions of more vehicles for a fire hazard, according to reports.

Toyota recalled 2.5 million vehicles sold in the U.S. to fix a faulty window switch linked to hundreds of reports of smoke and fire that injured at least nine.

The automaker said it is not aware of accidents resulting from the problem.
Toyota's decision follows a National Highway Traffic Safety Administration investigation into the problem and is part of a global recall of nearly 7.5 million vehicles.

The U.S. recall includes the Yaris 2007-2008, the 2007 and 2009 RAV4, the 2007-2009 Tundra, the 2007-2009 Camry, the Camry Hybrid 2007-2009, the 2008-2009 Scion xD, the Scion xA 2008-2009, the 2008-2009 Sequoia , the 2008 Highlander, the Highlander Hybrid 2008 and Corolla Matrix 2009.

The recall comes at a crucial time for Toyota, which has made significant market share gains in the U.S. after seeing a large fall off due to a series of massive recalls in 2010, followed by inventory problems caused by last year's earthquake and tsunami in Japan.

In the first nine months of this year, Toyota has been responsible for U.S. sales of about 1.6 million vehicles for the parent company Toyota Motor Sales USA, an increase of almost 32 percent over the same period last year. The Toyota brand share in the market has increased to 14.4 percent from 12.5

percent over the same period.

Reporting on the latest recall, Toyota said the driver power window switch side of the affected vehicles may experience a sticky feel during the operation. Depending on the grease which is applied to the switch to reduce tackiness and how it is applied including when it was assembled in the factory, the switch can melt, smoke and start a fire.
Toyota plans to remove the switches review and implement special grease fluorine that will solve the problem.
